It's also possible to turn these into 2-in-1 trips and visit both Australia *and* Los Angeles or San Francisco, and keep the price at $937 CAD roundtrip.
You can also find 3-in-1 trips that allow you to visit all 3 of these major Australian cities (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) on one trip for just $964 CAD !

How to find and book these flights
1. Go to FlightHub
2. Start by looking for a regular roundtrip flight.
Search for a flight from Vancouver to...
Sydney (SYD)
Brisbane (BNE)
Melbourne (MEL)
Try dates in February, March, April, May, and June 2018
TIP: Try starting with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday dates. Once your search completes, click on 'Flexible Dates' and look for the flights that are $937.
The fastest flights may not be the flights at the very top of your search results, sometimes you need to check out the first 3 or 4 flights.
So, let's say you found a regular roundtrip flight that looks like this...
We can see that it's from March 14 to March 28.
3. Now we can try turning this into a 2-in-1 trip, and stopping over in Los Angeles or San Francisco for free.
Change the search type from Round Trip to 'Multi-City'
Search for a flight like this:
Vancouver to Sydney, Australia (SYD)
Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles (LAX)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Vancouver
or
Vancouver to Sydney, Australia (SYD)
Sydney, Australia to San Francisco (SFO)
San Francisco (SFO) to Vancouver
or, if you'd like, try using Brisbane or Melbourne instead of Sydney.
4. As for the dates to use, for the first and last legs of the journey, try using start and end dates that are similar to the regular roundtrip flight dates that you found at the beginning, in the first step.
And then play around with the middle date, to give you more or less time in Australia vs Los Angeles.
For example, if the regular roundtrip dates that you found were:
March 14 to March 28
Try using these dates for your 2-in-1 trip:
March 14 to March 26 to March 28
