Vancouver to Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne, Australia - $575 to $685 CAD roundtrip

Sydney, Australia

Qantas has once again dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to cities in Australia, this time down to between $624 and $685 CAD roundtrip including taxes.

You can also find these flights from Victoria (YYJ) for about $75 more.

Update @ 8:15 PM PST - Qantas is now showing a few *non-stop* flights from Vancouver to Sydney in January for $575 CAD roundtrip including taxes!! (see update below)

You can also turn these into 2-in-1 trips and visit both Australia and San Francisco (or Los Angeles), for about the same price (instructions below).

You can also look at flying into one Australian city, but home from another, for about the same price (instructions below).

You can also find flights from Vancouver to a few other places in Australia and New Zealand (Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Gold Coast, Christchurch) for a lot less than their usual price... ($742 to $853 roundtrip). See instructions below.

Update 12/4 - While the Qantas deal is finished, American Airlines is now showing flights from Vancouver to Australia for $703 to $813 CAD roundtrip including taxes. Certainly not as attractive as the Qantas deal, but also an unusually low price. (See update below)

Update 12/5 - The American Airlines flights are now gone as well.

Update @ 8:14 PM PST - Qantas is now showing a few *non-stop* flights from Vancouver to Sydney in January for $575 CAD roundtrip including taxes!!

1. Go to Flighthub

2. Search for a flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Sydney, Australia (SYD)

Try one of the following date combinations:

Dec 31 to Jan 14, 15, 16, 17 -- $611 (non-stop on the way there, 2 hour layover on the way home)
Dec 31 to Jan 21, 24 -- $575

Jan 7 to Jan 21, 24 -- $575
Jan 10 to Jan 21, 24 -- $575

You can also turn these into 2-in-1 trips, and visit both Australia *and* San Francisco, for a similar price

1. First, try finding a normal roundtrip flight to Australia, using the Google Flights links above.

For example, let's say you found a flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Sydney (SYD), from Apr 17 to Apr 30.

2. Now go to Flighthub or Kayak

- Change the search type from 'Roundtrip' to 'Multi City'

3. Search for a flight like this one:

Vancouver (YVR) to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to San Francisco (SFO)
San Francisco (SFO) to Vancouver (YVR)

- For the first and last legs of the journey, use the dates from the normal roundtrip flight that you found on Google Flights.

- You can play around with the middle date to give yourself more or less time in Sydney vs San Francisco.

For example, here is a screenshot from Flighthub of Apr 17 to Apr 24 to Apr 30.

You can also try Los Angeles instead of San Francisco.

You can also look at flying into one Australian city, but home from another, and keeping the price the same

Brisbane (BNE) to Vancouver (YVR)

- Try the dates from the normal roundtrip flight that you found on Google Flights.

For example, here is a screenshot from Flighthub of Apr 17 to Apr 30.

You'll notice the flight from Sydney (SYD) to Brisbane (BNE) is not included.

You can try a multi-city search on Flighthub that includes the flight between the two Australian cities. It may only bump up the price by a little bit.

For example:

Vancouver (YVR) to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to Brisbane (BNE)
Brisbane (BNE) to Vancouver (YVR)

It's even possible to visit multiple cities in Australia *and* Los Angeles and still keep the price under $700!

1. Go to Flighthub or Kayak

2. Change the search type from 'Roundtrip' to 'Multi City'

Try a search like this one:

Vancouver (YVR) to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to Brisbane (BNE)
Brisbane (BNE) to Los Angeles (LAX)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Vancouver (YVR)

You can also try San Francisco instead of Los Angeles.

example: Apr 17 to Apr 24 to Apr Apr 28 to Apr 30
