Update 9/10 - There are now some non-stop flights from Vancouver to Auckland, New Zealand for $971 CAD roundtrip that are kind of close to peak Christmas and New Year's travel dates (for a longer trip anyways) and for January 2018 travel.

Update 9/24 - Non-stop flights from Vancouver to Auckland, New Zealand are available on quite a few dates throughout 2017 and 2018 for $914 CAD roundtrip including taxes.

Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.
Look for the dates that are showing as $1060 CAD roundtrip.

Search for a flight from Vancouver to Auckland, New Zealand (AKL)

Update 10/14 - While non-stop flights from Vancouver to Auckland are now quite a bit more expensive than they have been in recent months, there's a couple of 2-in-1 trips from Vancouver to Honolulu, Hawaii and Auckland for $966 CAD roundtrip in March, April and May (including over Easter). All legs of the journey are non-stop flights.

3. Search for a flight like this one:

Is this deal still going? I'm looking for a one way to Auckland from YVR for early January, but flights are showing up on Flight Hub for $900 something (one way!).
Let me know if you have any insight on this!
Deal is still going! go on New Zealand air to get the deal. Make sure you book your flight there on January 1st. Any later date, the price almost doubles...

Thanks for the advice. However, that search query for January 1 on New Zealand air only yields one way flights for $1500+ - am I doing something wrong?
Lefroy: Unfortunately one way flights are pretty pricey around that time. A lot of times, one way flights can even be more expensive than roundtrip flights, particularly to far away international destinations.
It would actually be cheaper for you to book a roundtrip flight, and just not use the return portion of the ticket.
Try searching for Dec 30 to Jan 19 on Flighthub for example. It's currently $964 CAD roundtrip.
