Vancouver to New York City | $323 roundtrip after taxes
Looks like United Airlines is having an unadvertised sale on their flights from Vancouver to New York City's Laguardia airport (LGA), and have temporarily dropped their prices to 40% below their nearest competition.
Update 1: Flights from Vancouver to New York's JFK airport have also dropped on United to the same price. They stop in San Francisco each way. You can also 'mix and match', such as into Laguardia (LGA) and out of JFK for example. Just try a 'multi city search' on your favorite search engine, like this.
Update 2: United has put their fares back up.
The cheap flights look to be available on a large variety of dates between mid August 2013 (as in, next week) and the end of October.
Here's how to find the cheap dates and book the flights:
1. Have a look on Google Flights Explorer...
Enter 'New York' into the 'To' box.
You may also want to select 'Up To 1 Stop' from the 'Stops' pulldown menu.
2. When you see a date combination you like, click on it. On the next page, scroll down to the 'Book On United Airlines' button at the bottom left. Click on that to be taken to United's site to book.
You could also try a search on Kayak, and then play around with the Layover Airports and Layover Duration filters on the left hand side...
Or lastly, you could go directly to United.ca to pick exactly which flights you want.
Being an unadvertised sale, it's impossible to say how long United will keep the flights at this price. United does have a Fare Lock feature that allows you to lock in a price for 7 days, for $4.99, while you decide.
