WestJet has dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to Seoul, South Korea down to between $660 and $760 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop in Calgary each way.
It is true that you are starting your trip by heading East instead of West, but the flights with a 2-3 hour layover in Calgary are still about as fast as connecting through Seattle, and faster than connecting through Los Angeles. They can even be faster than connecting through Tokyo or Taipei.
Nonstop flights from Vancouver to Seoul are typically twice this price.
You can also find these flights from Abbotsford, Comox, and Victoria for between $811 and $842 roundtrip.
UPDATE: WestJet is showing some flights in September and into October for $754 to $823 roundtrip. Dates below.
